Simultaneous Interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation, in which the interpreter speaks at the same time as the speaker, is usually used to permit each participant to hear what is being said in his or her own language, whether it be French, German, Japanese, or any other.
Interpreters work in teams of at least two and interpret in turns due to the high level of concentration while performing the job. At the time one of them is interpreting, the rest/other one is taking notes and carefully following the proceeds ready to assist at any time.

  Simultaneous interpretation is preferred for:

  • Multilingual events
  • Media broadcasts
Advantages of simultaneous interpretation:
  • Allows presentations and discussion to proceed at the same pace as a single language conference
  • Conveys original speech without interruption
  • Makes it easier to follow the speakers’ thoughts and ideas
